China Rules Limit Teenage Online Gameplay
It’s been one hundred and eighty minutes–time for a workout. Or, at least this is what happens if you’re under 18 and you live in China.

This past week, China instituted rules which require internet cafes to install programs on their computer to verify the ages of users. In order to play, you have to enter your ID number, and if you’re under 18 you are prompted to “do suitable exercise” after three hours.

What happens if you continue without the exercise? Half of your points are taken away, and if you stay beyond five hours all of them are taken away. What these points are and how the exercise requirement is enforced is unclear, but the three hour time limit is based on the amount of time it takes to play a game of Go.

If you don’t know what Go is, watch Pi.
