The Guard Dunk, Finger-Roll and Layup Guide
By MunkTheQuick
First of all, this guide is meant for these types of guards:
- Tallest PG starting from low as level 15 - Tallest SG starting fairly low with jump shoes - Any SG or PG with (I think?) above 20 jump attribute
The best for this guide would be tall PG's obviously, as their jump/dunk skills go up more than SG's.
(for the color-blind it's marked with which color is which)
First we have the GREEN/RED marking on the the court: These markings are at the point you should jump (press D) with the ball to preform a finger-roll (most likely) or a 3-step one handed dunk. Now, these are the only 2 thigns you will be able to do from this line, they are cool and harder to block (like the 3-step layup forwards do) except I belive the dunk is easier to block than the finger-roll.
The red shaded area is where you can jump when your jump increases, the higher it becomes the more "not on target" you can be (which is the red-shaded area)
Anywhere outside the green (pending on jump attribute) will result in a lean in shot, anywhere inside will preform a simple layup or if you're behind the hoop area trying to do this it will make you do sideways jump shot.
Now, after reading all that, you might be asking "But I've done a two handed slam, how does that happen?" Well don't get too ahead of yourself and say things before you're done looking at the whole picture, Tim Hardaway!(what?) I'm getting to that right now!
Inside the green you'll notice is Blue. The blue is your safe zone. That means, it's a high percentage simple layup. UNLESS you're a high level guard or just a tall PG.. That's when the blue can sometimes mean serving up a powerful facial two handed slam. Now, this is just random pending on your dunk/jump/hieght. Basically the higher your level and attributes go up, the more often you will do this.
Ending this, you might be asking yourself "Gee that sure does look fun, but I'm a SG/PG that is short/tall. What do you think I should wear for clothes/attributes?" Well this is what I think you should wear if you'd like to do more of these:
Point Guard Shirt - +7 3points / +2 Dunk/layup Pants - +7 Block / +2 Pass Shoes - +7 Jump / +2 Running
Point Guards best ability is their defense. Block pants is a real bonus to have, and is a must need for all point guards. You run plenty fast as it is for a guard, so jump sohes with +2 running is fine, the higher your level the faster you will be anyway.
Shooting Guard Shirt - +7 Dunk/layup / +2 Middle or +2 2points Pants - +7 Block / +2 (optional) Shoes - +7 Jump / +2 Running
Yes, wear this all the time. Just because you're a shooting guard, doesn't mean you should stack your 3 points up for "more accuracy". It's not true and if anything, I notice SG's missing alot more than PG's almost. As long as you take open shots, you'll be the belle of the ball (plus even without a 3 point shirt your 3 points is much higher than anyone elses)
Now with all that said, feel free to ask any question or correct me if I'm wrong anywhere. Also there is a certain math for the jump/hieght for you to dunk, so if anyone knows that, please add it.
This picture up top can also be used for Forwards on doing their annoying 3 step layups too.
