New Japanese Hellgate: London Interview
Alerith has translated the Hellgate: London Q&A session that the Japanese gaming website 4Gamer held with Bill Roper a few days ago into proper and legible (i.e. non-Babelfish) English. You can read the original interview in Japanese here, which also comes with some random photos from the Korean event.
You can read his English translation right here. Here’s a one of the Q&A’s:
Q:There is a gap between games in the east and west and few that are hits in both. For that reason you are launching Hellgate simultaneously, and tell us why you believe it to be a hit in both. A: While I was at blizzard there was definitely that gap, and we realized partnership with foreign publishers was a key. We studied the market in Asia and Korea, and we believe the gap for online games are smaller. Diablo series has been a huge hit in the east but earnings were relatively low. Hellgate should meet the same kind of success. We couldn’t update content in Diablo, even though we’ve always wanted to. But as we get feedback from players in Hellgate, we can use that knowledge to updates. HanbitSoft’s experience will help to make Hellgate a success in Asia.
