Rappelz PVP Flagging system explained

Author : zig88    Original Source: http://rappelz.gpotato.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=170643

Rappelz PVP Flagging system is clearly just designed as a mechanism for taking money out of the pockets of the players. It\'s funny to me, because this game is advertised as a "FREE" MMO, but in just 2 months of play time a player could end up spending more on Rappelz then he/she would with a regular monthly subscription to any other commercial MMO. To me it makes no sense to play a game that requires you to basically pay real money to participate in one of the games main features, open PVP.

Now I\'m not crying, and I\'m not saying I am going to another game if this continues...yadda yadda, I\'m making this thread to:

a) analyze the current flagging system
b) make suggestions to how we can fix this flagging system

So, as I see it in the PVP I\'ve been involved in so far, the Flagging system works in this way.

- Two White players can not attack each other.
White Player A wants a fight, because White Player B is stealing mobs, and calling White Player A\'s mother a h0e.
-White Player A Flags
White Player B now has the option of killing Flagged Player A without any penalty whatsoever, and without ever the threat of flagging him/herself. Flagged Player A will get immorality if he happens to kill White Player B.

This is basically how it works, so in Rappelz Open PVP...unless you have a pair of balls on you, or $20 bucks to spare on Soap or an Immo Cleanser, there is absolutely no sense in Flagging first. Really, there is no sense in Flagging at all, unless like I said...you have real money to burn. (Which is ludicrous)

The only way NOT to get Immorality in Rappelz Open PVP, is if BOTH players are Flagged and attacking each other. This however makes no sense, because players CHOOSE to flag...unlike in other games such as Lineage 2 where players are forced to Flag if they involve themselves in PVP with someone who already is Flagged. No one in their right mind is going to flag on someone who is already Flagged, especially not their enemies.

This discourages PVP in Rappelz.

Now this flagging system might be good for the PVE servers, because PVP isn\'t the focus. However, on the PVP server this Flagging system is a joke. Now, flame me if you want...but all of you who are playing on the PVP server can\'t argue with me that you DON\'T want MORE, and BETTER PVP. If you do want to argue that, well then I am not sure why you are on the PVP server in the first place. I think we can all agree that we don\'t want to have to take money out of our pockets every time we want to PVP each other in game.

This whole flagging system is topped off with the ridiculous method of Immorality burning. Immorality will sit on your character until you either:

a) Soap it out (Spending Real Money)
b) Cleanse it out (Spending Real Money)
c) Burn it out (Grinding Mobs to get rid of it)
d) Die it out (Dying to get rid of it)

A + B should be options that we don\'t want to resort to, because this is a FREE game...and we should all be agreeing on the fact that we don\'t want to have to PAY to participate in the main function of the FREE game that we play. Now the Item Shop is a cool feature, and I personally don\'t mind paying for things like Items/Equipment/Stamina etc. and I am all for supporting this "FREE" game in that method. But, when I have to pay money just to PVP then this game is scamming me and its developers are not respecting me.

Option C isn\'t a bad method of getting rid of Immorality, however 1 Immorality point per mob is a severe and almost diabolical scheme to make players just buy Soap or an Immorality Cleanser.

Option D is almost impossible, because Dying means you lose Lak, losing Lak means you eventually Lose XP, and losing 10 Immo points per death means you will end up Deleveling probably a couple of times before you can get rid of all of your Immorality. So basically, this option isn\'t even considerable.

I know there are other PVP threads, but I made this thread with the title it has so people coming to this website who want to think about playing this game...know and understand what the PVP system is currently like. We are getting scammed people, and they are stealing the money right out of our pockets and not respecting the players that play their game. This PVP Flagging system needs to be changed, and not in 3-6 months either, it needs to be changed right away...ASAP.

My Suggestions for the PVP Server Flagging System

**************************************************

These are just my suggestions, and I am not saying it HAS to be this way...but I think this would improve Rappelz PVP overall on the Pantera Server.

This is basically just the Lineage 2 method of Flagging, which is what this game should have adapted...especially on the PVP server, in the first place.

- Get rid of players "CHOOSING" to flag. Players instead, Flag when they hit another player, and Flags fade after a certain amount of time of no attacking.
- Players gain Immorality points if they kill another player who does not Flag back.
- Clerics/Buffers Flag if they Heal/Buff a Flagged player.
- Two players who are Flagged can simply kill each other with no penalties.
- Possibly even add a method of tabbing between players who are Flagged in PVP, for easier Targeting. (Although I can see people against this)

This still allows for Rappelz to make money off of Soap/Cleansers because Immorality would still be gained by those who go on PK sprees (Killing people who don\'t fight back, and don\'t flag), and allows for those of us who want to PVP to enjoy the game without being penalized. This is a clear solution to the current discouragement of PVP in Rappelz, imo.
