All in One Player Guide and FAQ
All in One Player Guide and FAQ (source from ELECJESTER)
| I am posting this in three parts, since the forums currently cannot accept the length of the post in it's full length.
I appologize for this.
FAQ COMPLIATION:
This is a compliation of various help topics, question topics, FAQ topics, etc that people seem to be most intrested in when starting out in the game. So rather than have people trying to muddle thier way through hundreds of useless posts trying to find the few pieces of good info, or trying to get a GM to sticky every single post with any valuable info in it at all. I have decided to compile all the info into a single guide.
The info has been soley plundered from various posts on this forum and I in no way claim any credit for writing anything except for where I have put (added)
Hope this helps everyone out in thier efforts to test this game to it's l.imit and make it the smash hit we all know it is.
Cheers,
Ej.
Attributes - What are they for? :
1 point str = 1 point normal atk, 1 point skill atk, 3 hp ((added) - increase carry wieght) 1 point dex = 1 point reg. defense, 1 point skill def., 2 point crit, 0.5 point dodge 1 point int = 3 point chi, 0.5 skill atk, 2 point skill def
Differences in the four cls's :
Alright the 4 cls's that you get to choose at the beginning are just weapon profiency cls's. IE: Cls's that use only a certain 2 types of weapons. There are 2 males and 2 female cls's.
The two male classes are: -Ruthless Blade: Blade / Bow Master -Overseer of the Sky: Spear / Rod / Axe Master
The two female classes are: -The Elegant Mystic: Spear / Rod / Hand Melee Master -The Piercing Eyes: Blade / Throwing knives Master
Upon choosing of those 4. You will start the game. Then once you hit level 10, you may then choose a job cls that you want.
(added):
These are the common jobs you would expect each classes to be
Piercing eyes = Assassin Ruthless Blade = Hunter Elegant Mystic = Priest Overseer of the Sky = Warrior
However:
Remember, Any of the job proficency cls's can be any job. (For example you can have a blade / bow master that is a priest as their job.) The power of your character soley depends on how you want them built.
Pets & Taming:
All right, the requirements that a monster has to meet for you to successfully tame it is: -It has to be a tameable monster. Wolves, bears, hawks, and some others fit this category. -It has to have a level weaker than yours by more than 1, at the very least. -It has to have less than 10% of its max hp. You can figure this out by holding your mouse over its HP bar which you should tell you its max and current HP. Get the max, divide by 10, no big problem.
(Added) - When you get the monster down to 10% or less, use your tame skill (with a weapon equipped) and it will vanish. You will get the xp, etc etc and the pet icon will show up in your inventory (depending on what you tamed the icon will vary).
Part 2 Continued from above:
FAQ: (added)
- How do you start?:
At the start of the game, as soon as you create your character and enter town for the first time, there is nothing to do really, so simply exit town from any exit, kill some lv1 wolves (click on the monster first to check its lv) and level up till you get your first automated quest msg (lv2 or lv3)
- No you can't dual wield
- No you can't use a shield
- Lv10 = first skill
- GM Trivia? = Fun, Free Gifts (since they are so nice) + Anti-Bot Script
- Can't hit a monster? = Latency issues on the server .. give it a few or try changing servers if you can't wait.
- Where do I go at what level?
a) lv1-5 = Stick close to town, you can do wolves (lv1-3) then boars (just across the bridge near the farmer at the top of town), then bandits (lv5), black wolves (lv6) & thieves (lv7). You can easily hit lv10 in this section.
If you wish to go faster though ...
b) Highlands (simply talk to any npc that will let you change areas, and select to goto the central market (costs 1k gold). From there talk to the guard and select: First Area Option(forget the name, game is down - I'll edit later), -> select highlands.
From there you can travel around the highlands and fight various apes (lv10/11), bigger wolves, bears, etc
- Boxes: Seen alot of people in game asking about boxes yesterday ... from what I have seen there are ALOT of various boxes that cost a variety of amounts to open, ie:
1 / 100 / 15,000 / 500,000+
Despite the high costs involved in opening these boxes, they are usually VERY worth opening. Do not sell them if you can help it!
- Houses:
Houses in Hero, are actually factions that you join. Basically 2 armies at war, and not actually a house that you would buy to say .. live in and store your belongings.
At some point (don't think it's enabled atm) you will be able to have pk battles between the houses.
This is all the GM's have given us to date.
++NEW INFO++
CRTL + CLICK Options:
> You can ctrl + click on another character to do trades, party requests, etc > You can ctrl + click on yourself to exit a party, etc.
Until I can find a replacement for this guide below, I will try to give some quick and dirty instructions. Ran out of space below in sec.3 to type it up .. yell at the GM's to increase forum length!.
> Lv1 - 3 Wolves outside of town > Lv4 - 5 Boars and Bandits outside of town just past the farmer > Lv6 - 8 Thieves / Black Wolves / Bandits near the entrance to the highlands > Lv9 - 11 Apes / Mighty Apes / Bears (Highlands) > Lv12 - 14 Bandit guys in highlands > Lv15+ Swamp (start with the spears, and work your way towards the archers, then frogs, snakes, etc etc)
Hotkeys:
> Hit the >H< Key in game to show all the hotkeys on your keyboard (such as hitting >S< to pick up items more quickly!)

Part 3, Continued from above:
- I can't find stuff in my inventory! - or - My weight is so high but my inventory looks empty!
I find alot of people fail to realise there are 2 tabs for your inventory, if you look at the top left corner of your inventory (directly above where your items are and below where your weapon is equipped) you will see two tabs that look like:
[-][=]
Simply click either tab to open the existing inventory panel.
- Banks: Yes your account data is shared between characters! You only have access to 2 of the 4 tabs at the start. It is unknown at this time when you can access the other 2 tabs. (It could be disabled for this period in the game, it could be activated once you reach a certain level, you could have to purchase it at some point, etc etc .. not sure atm).
- Attribute Spending:
Alot of people are scared to spend thier attribute pts when they first create thier characters. Unsure of what they do and how they will effect thier character. Please refer to the attribute guide at the top of this guide for specific questions, however ... General rule of thumb:
If your going to be a ranged attacker (ie: throwing weapon / bow) you WILL need dex to hit your target more often (melee users will need this as well, but it will be more beneficial to ranged)
All classes will need str to do dmg, increase carry load, and raise thier hp.
All classes will need int to do dmg with thier skills, gain more chi to use thier skills as well as gain def vs skills.
A good point to made here is if you are still unsure:
> Look at what weapon you use, raise your stats to match that weapon > Look at the next level of jewelery, raise your stats to match that > Armor requires no attribute req, only level req. (so far)
Basically all classes/jobs need all 3 stats to some extent.
You also get more stats points as you raise in level (1-9 you get 3 or 4, and at lv10 you get 5. Lv20-29 you get 6 pts, etc, etc (thanks for the updated info)
- Xp: Party vs Solo:
Alot of people ask about this as well, so I figured I would shed a little light on this based on what I know so far:
You WILL get an xp bonus for the following:
> The longer you stay out hunting the more xp you seem to generate > Parties will earn MORE xp than solo players > Rewards will be granted as you generate certain amounts of xp (it will say something like "You have earned alot!" and give you a little cup to click on, click start and stop and you will get your random reward)
- Mounts:
> First mount is @ lv20 (2dan) and costs 100k (which isn't as high as it sounds)
Skill Books:
> Each skill book has 3 - 5 skills in it! > You get the first skill book at lv10. Buy the one for the weapon type that you use. To use the book, simply right click on it, then goto your skill tab.
