PVPing Guide
PVPing Guide---Made by Kagesama
Seems there is a lot of confusion about how this system works... So, i'm going to elaborate on it as best I can to help people get a better understanding of things.
PVP (Bounty) In this mode you can claim gold placed on the heads of others. You can not make or join a party with this mode on. To check this list goto the chief guard in either Dragon City or Southern Plains. You are also free to kill your own faction or the opposing.... However, if they offer no resistance in this mode they can lose karma, but still gain honor at the same time as long as they are opposite faction. Killing someone of your own faction in bounty mode will gain you karma under the condition that they either hit you first or fought back. This only applies to one kill though. If the person you've killed doesnt hit you and you kill them a second time then you will lose Karma. In bounty mode you can also gain or lose experience depending on the level of your opponent. The lower the level of the opponent that kills you, the more you lose. Same applies if you kill a high level opponent. If you kill someone about ten levels lower than you in bounty, you will receive no experience.
PVP (Vendetta) This mode is for guild leaders, and vice guild leaders. It can only be enabled, and disabled in a pvp zone such as Mudo. Your entire guild can not make or join a party with this mode on. In this mode you are allowed to attack the opposite faction and gain honor even if the opponent doesnt strike back. You will lose no karma, and also any AoE attacks will avoid hitting your faction. You will not gain any exp from killing people in this mode, or any gold placed on their heads. If a person from your faction attacks you pvp defense will activate. This means you can kill this person of your own faction as many times as you desire without losing karma , and will still gain honor from it. Faction defense works only if you're in a guild and if Vendetta mode is turned off. A black box will appear telling you when the mode has been activated or deactivated. When you get hit by the opposite faction. (not sure if this applies to guildless people who attack you. ) It will trigger faction defense mode which acts much like Vendetta mode. You can do the same things as Vendetta only this mode can be disabled by the leader or vice leader from anywhere in the game. It also will be activated for all members within the guild, and no black box will appear.
Karma is mostly gained through bounty assignments, and fighting people who give you tough battles. Its very easy to lose karma fighting someone who won't fight you back in bounty mode. karma affects the second portion of your name Thug, Civilian,Novice are a few examples.
Honor is easy to gain from fighting your opposite faction, and can be lost just as easily if an opponent defeats you. Honor affects the first portion of your name Nameless, Unknown, Skillful. Hope this helps some people when they go pking to better understand how it works. Please do not use this guide on any other forums/websites without my permission.
Edit: Forgot to add in the information regarding red names. A red name player can be attacked regardless if he hits you first while in bounty mode. You can get a decent amount of karma from them. Also, red names need to pay an amount based on their base level and negative karma rank to use npc shops. Also, the lowest possible level you can be to partake in actual pvping is level 20.
There were some changes made to pvp from open beta to release. I'll note the changes down here incase the pvp may revert to its old form in some way.
1. Honor can no longer be gained by same faction if your bounty self defense, and vendetta mode are on.
2. You now gain a reduced portion of experience equal to 1/2rd of what your opponent loses.
3. Red names can now be teleported to bandit camp if they choose to revive at a safe location.
4. You now can deactivate Vendetta mode and Vindictive defense from all maps except Golden Basin.
5. You can use bounty mode to attack a player in any map outside of the safty zone as long as they are on the bounty list. This list can be seen by the chief guard at Dragon Castle, or by one of the guards at Southern Plains.
6. Bounty system is not working against. You can kill players and earn money from them.
7. It is now harder to be put into self defense mode when vendetta is activated. Making it easier to gain honor. |
