How to Survive the Wrath of Clockworks !
Anxious to go kill the horrible beast but have no idea what to do at what level and what to bring? here you'll find some tips and hints on Clockworks from my personal experience.
What level should I be?
The minimum level you can go to visit Clockworks with depends on your build : your STA and HP.
Characters with more sta do less damage, but they can visit Clockworks earlier than characters with less STA that do more damage, becuase they can take hits from it.
Level suggestions below are for characters with +6~8 sets, who will get buffed by an RM with max HeapUp.
Full STA characters - AOE Eles, Knights, AOE Rangers, AOE BPs, Crucio/Aoe Psys, Etc.
Can go in at level 73 and up. Will be able to survive through Clockwork's normal hits until Rage mode. To survive rage mode with a STA built character, you should be at least 77.
1 On 1 Characters - Blades, DEX/STR BPs, Jesters, INT psys and INT Eles, Etc. (~40-60 STA)
Can go in at level 77 and up, give or take depending on your STA. To survive Rage mode with a 1 On 1 character, you should be at least 80.
Support Characters - Ringmasters
Again, Depending on you STA/HP. Ringmasters have the lowest def so they need higher level to live through, if they intend to stay close and heal.
Level 80 and up is recommended for Ringmasters. To survive Rage mode with a Ringmaster, you should be at least 84.
Rage Mode
Every monster has its own Rage mode, when it's HP gets low and the monster starts to hit higher and higher.
Clockworks' Rage mode hits double and sometimes triple than its normal hits.
Here's a picture to show you about when Rage mode starts with Clockworks.
If you are unable to survive through it, this is the time where you run!

What should I Bring to Clockworks?
You MUST bring :
Food and Pills - a LOT of star candy and Red/Gold pills for emergancy. 500-700 Star Candy and 60-70 Pills. You don't want to get stuck without food.
Vital Drinks/Refreshers - If you need them, don't be cheap. get 700-800 or even more of them!
Bless Posters - 700-800 of them. a little less if you're not gonna GT and SF your guild.
Optional :
Cash Shop Items - Refresher Holds, Activations, Vital Drink X, Bull Hamstern, Grilled Eel, Resurrection Scrolls, Upcut Stones.
Alterative Weapon - If you're going to be there for a while, abd you have a feeling your weapon wont make it, bring a 2nd weapon to fight with in case your first one reaches 0% Durabillity.
For Blades - Pay attention to the sword on your main hand. If you see the durabillity is getting too low, switch swords and put the one with more durabillity as your first sword.
Ringmasters should use Guardian(+15% HP) or Angels(+10% HP) stick for more HP, not a Roritoren stick.
How Do I Get to Clockworks?
There are two ways to get to clockworks.
Clockworks Quest - You can get to Clockworks by doing the Clockworks quest. Going to Clockworks through the quest can be done only once per guild, and you will have 1 hour to finish the monster off. If you can't do it in one hour, you will fail.
Gamemaster Warp - You can get to Clockworks by PMing/Messaging a Gamemaster to Warp your guild into clockworks. You can ask a Gamemaster to warp you to Clockworks once a week. Death of the whole guild will be your only time limit.
Clockworks' Attacks - Where Should I Stand and When Should I Run?
Clockworks uses his Stump attack the most. It lifts his two front feet up and then bangs them down to the ground damaging everyone under and near it.
Some say jumping helps you evade damage, I say you have no time to jump around every 8 seconds to maybe not get hit. You should be constant attacking it.
Stump is the hit you have to survive in order to succeed in killing Clockworks.
Clockworks sometimes uses Laser attack. Laser is deadly and you do NOT want to get stuck in its way! Laser does quick high damage and just burns right through you. you'll be dead in less than a second.
To avoide laser hits, simply stay under Clockworks or don't stand in front of it's face.
Clockworks also has a normal attack. It swings it's axe-like hand and hits a person in front of it. The attack does low damage but is very easy to avoid. Simply stay away from Clockworks' face and you'll be fine.
Bow Jesters / Yoyo Jesters usually have the lowest sta of all classes, and can not survive hits from under Clockworks (Stump). They have to hit Clockworks from afar. Jesters should Clockworks from the two feet that do not Stump.
Clockworks turns every now and then and the two stumping feet might be directed at you, so pay attention to his stumps. You should have enough time to run out of hit range between every stump to avoid death.
All other attack classes should stay under Clockworks. they will only get hit by the Stump attack.
Ringmasters either stay under Clockwroks if possible or if the Ringmaster is too weak / scared to stay under Clockworks, the Ringmaster should stay out of hit range and wait for people to come to him/her for buffs.
of course in that way you cannot help heal/GT/SF your guildmates, and they might die.
If you can't survive Rage mode, don't be a hero and run for your life. The ringmaster(s) have alot of healing and buffing to do without having to resurrect a character that dies with every hit.
IMPORTNAT - If you die by Clockworks and get resurrected, don't accept the ressurection until AFTER Clockworks uses his Stump. Time your resurrection by his Stumps or you'll just die again.
also, when you get resurrected and successfully safe out of clockwork's reach, if you have no Ringmaster waiting outside to buff you and only one Ringmaster under Clockworks, ask the ringmaster when he/she is ready for you to rush back under Clockworks and buff you. AGAIN, you must time your running back under Clockworks with it's Stumps. Run back in right after a Stump is done, so the Ringmaster will have time to buff you.
So...What Do I actually Do?
Okay, so you're fully equipped, well leveled and ready to go. Every class has its own special skills that can help weaken Clockworks.
Blades/Knights - Sneaker is VERY importnat!! Usually the blades are the one incharge of the sneakering. Sneaker slowers Clockworks by alot, and with a lvl 20 Sneaker Clockworks attacks only once in 10 seconds or so.
Billposters - Billposters should use Baraqijal Esna skill, to weaken Clockworks' defence. Although it increases the monster's Attack Rate, it helps your guild kill Clockworks faster. Baraqijal Esna should be used at least until rage mode.
When you reach rage mode, its up to you to decide whether or not your guild can take Clockwroks in Rage mode and Baraqijal Esna. If the hits you're getting are too high stop using it. If not, keep using it and own Clockworks.
Elementors - Elementors can use Windfield spell on Clockworks.
Rangers - Rangers can use Ice Arrow skill on Clockworks.
Psychipers - Psychips can use Crucio Spell on Clockworks, but the damage will be slow. Satanology is useless.
Ringmasters - Ringmasters can use Holy Cross on clockworks, and Merkaba Hanzelrusha to help damage Clockworks.
Ringmasters
Ringmasters are VITAL at Clockworks and have alot of work to do.
Positioning - Ringmasters can either stand outside of Clockwork's damage reach or right under Clockworks with all the killers. Having a Ringmaster under Clockworks helps a whole alot. The Killers get healed, GTed and SFed.
If the Ringmaster stand outside Clockwork's reach, there will be no healing, GTing or SFing for the guild from that Ringmaster. The killers must pay attention to their buff's duration and run back out to the Ringmaster for rebuffing. This makes killing Clockworks a longer and more tiring experience. Having a Ringmaster under Clockworks is highly recommended.
Buffing - Don't overbuff killers with buffs they don't need. Eles and Psys don't need BeefUp or CannonBall or Haste or Accuracy. STR characters don't need MentalSign. Bow users don't need BeefUp. Don't waste time on buffs that are NOT needed.
Your combo should have all defensive and vital buffs, that you can cast on every single person in your guild. Everyone needs HeapUp, Protect and Cat Reflex. these three buffs should be the first ones on your combo, By order. The other two are up to you and remember that without an Activation the Forth and Fifth buffs on your combo will most likely not be casted if you repeat your combo alot. First and Second, However, Will always be casted.
Protect buff has a shorter duration than most buffs. When Protection is about to run out, recast Protection only. There's no need to rebuff all of the buffs, becuase they last 3-4 minutes more than Protection.
GT / SF. You should keep your guildmates GTed at all times. SF is optional if you have time inbetween Stumps, same goes with holycrossing.
Rebuffing - Time your rebuffing according to Clockworks' Stumps. Sometimes you might have to use a pill or some kind of food through a Stump in order to rebuff your guildmates. Pay attetnion to the buffs duration and dont rebuff on the last second. Rebuffing at one minute left is recommended. Ask your guildmates to help you notice the buffs duration - Ask them to tell you when their buffs hit the one minute mark.
Prevention is a LIFESAVER! Don't underestemate Prevention. Your Prevention should be at a high level for clockworks. A level 18~20 Prevention heals FULL HP. Its Vital in Clockworks. ALWAYS keep yourself Prevented.
Healing - The only type of heal you should use is Heal Rain. Heal Rain heals more than normal heal does and it heals multiple people including yourself. Time your healing according to Clockwork's Stumps - Save yourself some time for rebuffing.
Resurrecting - Resurrecting, once again, should be done accodring to clockworks' Stumps. Resurrect your fallen member right after a stump. Don't panic and resurrect right when the member dies, wait.
Tips
Flashing Exp Bar - You should suicide with your character before going into Clockworks to get that extra critical rate you get when your Exp bar is blinking for the next 3% after a death. It will help kill clockworks faster.
Don't go in Clockworks with EXP! if you know you're about to die a few times at Clockworks, make sure you just recently leveled and that you are on 0% EXP. Losing EXP is not fun.
Level 20 Axe/Sword Mastery lasts for one hour. It can help you see how long has it been since you started your Clockworks adventure. Helps especially on quest-summoned Clockworks where you have exactly 1 hour to kill it.
Have a happy monster-slaying mood!
Hope I helped :) |
