The History of ChaosSX
The History of ChaosSX (article contest)
Some time ago, after school started and life was turning into its old, boring self, a teenaged boy was walking around the park. He had homework to do but he didn't want to go back to his small room and write about the history of Poland. He was bored with his daily routine: waking up at 6 am to go to school, coming back home at 16 pm to do homework and helping clean the house, afterwards studying for the next day at school, going to sleep at 9 pm and so on for the last 17 years. He hated the world for being so normal.
- "Nothing ever happens..." - he said - "Nothing at all!" With those words he made another circle around the city park. - "Why was I born here? In the capital of Boredom itself?!"
He looked around to see the old trees again, the green grass, waving from the wind and a couple of dogs running after each other. The boy was called Thomas, but he always wanted to have a more original name. Still, it couldn't be helped anyway. While he was thinking about everything and nothing, the evening came.
- "Sigh...I think I should go back now. My parents will yell at me again if I won't get back on time." - and so, our soon-to-be-hero walked slowly back. But the events of that day were about to change his whole life, forever.
The boy suddenly stopped upon hearing some voices. He could hear two girls whispering to each other behind the tall bushes.
- "We should come back to Madrigal or the others will notice our absence."
- "Now? But we just landed here, this world is so amazing!"
- "I don't care, the people here are giving us strange looks."
- "You think something is wrong with us?"
Thomas carefully looked what was behind the bushes, but he couldn't believe his own eyes. The two girls he heard were dressed in really strange clothes. One was wearing a black dress with a satanic pattern on it, along with horns on her head. She was holding...a wand in her hand? This gave her a really demonic look. The other girl's clothes were dark-blue and a bit baggy, but still they seemed fitting. She was holding a shield with herself and something that looked like an iron knuckle.
- "It's either a new fashion style or something is really fishy here." – he thought.
- “Alright, let’s go. But we’ll come back here later, ok?” – said the girl with the iron fist.
- “Will do. I think it was here...BLINK POOL!” – said the demonic girl as she swung her wand over her head, creating something like a magic circle. Suddenly the whole area around the two was covered by a large magic circle with runic signs encrypted. The girls vanished at a moment’s notice. Thomas had his eyes open up so wide they almost came out of his head. His face was the clear definition of the words: “NO S**T?!” He stood there for a few minutes before he finally realized what he saw. Yup, the day definitely didn’t seem boring anymore. Thomas slowly stepped inside the magic ring to take a closer look, to search for any clues, hidden doors or any other signs of tricks that could explain this. –“For the love of all the Pizzas in this whole world: WHAT HAPPENED HERE?! Who were they? How is this even possible? AND WHERE DID THEY GO?!”

The boy looked carefully around but there were no signs of the girls here. He decided to give up and come back with his friends to check this place later. However, when he tried to leave the ring, it shone brightly and he fell right through the ground.
- “WHAAAAA!!!!” he yelled falling lower and lower every second through a mixture of purple and blue colors. As soon as the journey started, it ended. Thomas hit the ground, yet somehow he didn’t feel any pain.
- “What the-? From this height I should have died upon hitting the ground....What is this place?”

He saw a small town, filled with people running in every direction, including up and down. Some of them were walking, some levitating above ground and some flying on all kinds of brooms and boards. Thomas went to explore the town he landed in. There were lots of shops selling various kinds of weapons, armors and items including a food shop and a station. Well, at least it was called a station, cause our hero couldn’t see any trains there. It looked more like a broom shop. While walking around Thomas was so excited looking at everything that he was too occupied to watch where he was going resulting in a....
- “Wow! This place is so ama-“ BONK!
...in a collision. The boy bonked into someone. He immediately turned over to the person to apologize while rubbing his head. He saw a red-haired girl in maid’s clothes. She smiled to him.

- “Um...sorry, I didn’t watch where I’m going.” – Said the boy.
- “It’s not a problem. Are you lost?”
- “Kind of....” – he said. How should he explain that he fell into a hole made by a magic circle while tracking two girls in a park?
- “May I help you? If you have any question, please feel free to ask me.”
- “I’ll really need it....”
Thomas started asking questions about the place he landed in. The girl told him that he was in the Land of Madrigal. Currently he was on Flaris Island, in the town of Flarine. The people there use magic brooms and boards to fly from one island to another, to sell treasures that they find on their adventures. This world was a true paradise for our young hero, no school or homework, no boring politicians and no parents that would forbid him from doing anything he wanted! However, there were different kinds of monsters out there that could attack people. Of course every monster carried something valuable with itself, so the people attacked the monsters more often than vice versa. The girl gave him a wooden sword and a shield that begginers use to train themselves in combat and told him to practice fighting by killing Aibatts. Thomas decided to try, but before he departed for adventure he decided to give himself a new name that would fit him. He named himself: “ChaosSX”

When he entered the plains he saw a bunch of one-eyed bats flying everywhere. They acted like they didn’t see him. SX rushed towards one of them and hit it with the wooden sword. It’s hard to call it a slash because of two things: The wooden sword wasn’t sharp at all, and besides, Chaos was a real n00b when it came to fighting. He couldn’t cut bread with a knife, not to mention fighting monsters. The Aibatt he hit reacted with a full-body tackle sending him flying away. A few mages were looking at his attempts and started laughing.
- “Hey kid! Try attacking him instead of practicing flying! Ha ha ha!”
- “Just look at the poor n00b! Ha ha ha!”
- “Need a hand kid? *clap, clap, clap* Ha ha ha!”
Chaos got really angry from those comments.
- “I know I’m not strong.” – he thought – “But even so I won’t stop! Never!”
Chaos hadn’t noticed something strange about him. His eyes started shining in a light-green color and his sword was shaking, reacting to the aura he was giving out. The mages upon noticing that stopped laughing. SX got up and charged the sword with spirit energy.
- “Ha ha....huh? What is he...” – the mage couldn’t finish.

- “The boom of sword shakes the earth. The ruin which takes everything away means eternal silence. GUILLOTINE!” – Yelled Chaos, unleashing a powerful, earth rending wave. It struck the Aibatt he attacked before and an overwhelming flash blinded everyone for a short moment. After they regained their vision, they saw a destoryed path of earth ending with a crater in the place the Aibatt was previously. SX spoke first, in a suprised, yet excited voice.
- “Wha....What WAS that?” – he looked at the destoryed path of earth that the wave left after passing through.
- “Impossible! A little n00b vagrant CAN’T use such a skill!” – said one of the mages after collecting his teeth from the ground.
- “Who are you? Where did you come from?!” – said the other mage with a terrified look on his face.
- “Let’s get out of here!!!” – said the third magician and they all ran away.
ChaosSX stood there for a moment, not knowing what this all meant. He didn’t know what excatly he did, yet he somehow knew the name of the attack and what it served for. Things started to get pretty interesting from now on....

A few days passed. Thomas changed pretty much in that time, not to mention he got used to his new name better than to his old one. He became better in battle, harnessed the Guillotine skill and decided to become a Mercenary. The exam wasn’t really hard to pass, yet he had to learn a lot about the combat style, skills and fighter magic. Chaos became a very hard-working student.

After becoming a Mercenary, SX was hired by the most wealthy man in Flarine to do a few deeds for him. For good cash of course.
- “Hm...Let me think. I’ll need a new bed cause the last one has 2 weeks already....The fountain needs maintanance also....and I need a new set of dishes of pure gold. Find me the materials and send them to my people, they’ll know what to do. Got that?” – said the wealthy man looking at ChaosSX like a banker would look at a bankrupt.
- “Yes sir! I’ll find it in no time!” – replied the boy while withstanding the urge to kick him for such haughtiness.
- “Good, now go! I have no time for you now.” – Saying that he left for his house.
Chaos walked away while thinking about his first ever mission.
- “A new bed...I think he means wood for it, but high quality wood can be gotten only from Feferns. I heard his fountain is made out of star stones, so he’ll need some to repair it. It means fighting NyangNyangs again. Still....where can I find gold?” – while walking to the feferns he heard a strap of a coversation:
- “ Come on man! Sell me the golden wings for 1 k each, I beg you!”
- “No way! If you want them cheaper, go fight Bangs yourself!”
Chaos smirked and thought to himself.
- “Now I know where I can get gold. Who said random encounters with people are of no use?” – He finally got to the Feferns.

The living-flower monsters were walking everywhere there, bitting people who came too close to them, or just simply standing in place and taking roots into earth to gain water and nutrients from the ground. The body of Feferns was too weak to make good material, but their roots where the best wooden material for all kinds of stuff from mundane items to high quality weapons.
- “Alright, it’s busting time! While I’m here I can train my new skills! WAZZA!!!” – he yelled the last word while rushing to a nearby Fefern. At first his attempts were not very impressive. But he slowly started to make progress, and became better....

...and better...

...and better.

After getting the needed materials he returned for his payment. All his hard work was worth only 10 000 penya for the wealthy man. Still, for Chaos 10 000 penya was a lot of money for a start. He immediately thought about a way to spend the money, but before he left the city again, he heard one of the merchants crying about something.

It was Luda, the shopkeeper selling Vagrant equipment. The boy walked up to him to check what happened.
- “Um...is something wrong mister? Why are you crying?” – he asked but the merchant just keept crying. After a moment he answered his question.
- “*Sniff* My...my home was attacked by the Lawolfs. The beasts raided it in search of my family, I know it! Luckly they were here in the city when that happened, but I fear they might come again this night! *Sniff*” – Said the sad man.
- “Why do you think they came for your family?” – SX was confused now. He knew Lawolfs can’t talk nor write so how come he knew their thoughts?
- “I once went with Boboku and Boboko to deal with the Lawolves and get rid of their threat once and for all. We killed a lot of them, but suddenly out of nowhere the Giant Lawolf jumped out and we had to run away. He can organize the wolves so they attack together, and he is the only one of them that can speak our language. He promised revenge to us for what we did. Now I’m scared that my family and my friends are endangerd. *Sniff* Please! I beg you, kill the Giant Lawolf and restore peace to our village!” – Luda desperately grabed Chaos by his shirt.
- “Whoa! Wait a minute, why me? I’m just a newbie Mercenary. Why won’t you ask the Elementors or the Blades to help you?” – Chaos was kinda shocked from what happened, still he was interested in how Luda could fight Lawolfs. He was chubby and didn’t look like a fighter at all.
- “*Sniff* The Elementors said they won’t be wasting their time here and we don’t have enough money to hire a Blade to do the job. All we can count for is that a Knight would come and save us but they never come here. Please! You’re our only hope! We will pay you for this, just help us! Please!” – Luda started crying again, kneeling before the boy. SX didn’t know what to do. He wasn’t as strong as he wished to be, how could he defeat something that defeated 3 men at once? But still, he was their only hope now. He had do it!
- “I will help you, justice shall be done!” – he said and ran to the Lawolfs’ field, not turning back even once.

When he arrived at the Lawolfs’ field he couldn’t see anything there. No Lawolfs, no nothing. This might have been a trap.
- “Hm...where is he? Ah!” – Chaos jumped away right in time to avoid being pinned to the ground by a monster’s huge claw. This was the biggest monster SX ever saw in life, it reminded him of an elephant in size but it was a gigantic Lawolf. It grinned to him and spoke with a creepy, human voice.
- “So...A human dares to come here? I expected Luda to return, but it looks like he choose to live longer in exchange for you. Is that so? How pitiful of him.” – His eyes were gazing on the boy, while saliva was coming out of his huge mount. He looked hungry, but even so, ChaosSX didn’t give up. He held his sword even stronger now, feeling his spirit flowing through it, getting ready for the, probably, hardest battle in his life.
- “I will punish you for all the people you have killed!” – said the boy and charged at the Giant.
The battle was developing quick, neither of them having the upper hand. Chaos’ skill of fighting developed enough now to deal precise hits and allowing to parry the giants attacks.

He was doing very well, but the battle took longer than expected and he finally ran out of strength. Upon using the finish skill he hit the ground hard after the Giant’s blow. ChaosSX was exhausted after the long battle as much as the Giant Lawolf, but it looked like the monster was tougher.
- “*cough* It’s...not over yet...I can still fight...” – said the tired boy. He was breathing so hard that these words couldn’t hide it. The monster approchied him slowly.
- “ This is it, little boy! I will kill you as I did to many people before that tried to defeat me. You will never come back to your home!” – Said the monster with an evil grin on his face.

Chaos thought about his home. Even though he hated it, he still missed it, his parents, his friends...and to think he was never going to see it again. This made him angry, so angry he couldn’t keep it in himelf.
- “No...no...NO!!! I will not let you! This ends here!” – Once again Chaos felt his spirit flowing through the sword. A powefull aura of green light surrounded it. Strong wind started blowing at the Giant, pushing him back. However, the trees were showing no wind at all.
- “DIE!!!” – yelled the monster and rushed at SX, but the boy reacted in an instant.
- “GUILLOTINE!!!” – he screamed out, sending an earth rending shock through the ground. It splashed at the Giant and again, a bright flash blinded him. The screams of pain from the monster were so loud they could be heard in the city of Flarine. After regaining vision, ChaosSX saw the Giant lying dead in the hole in the ground.
- “And so it ended here...” – he commented the battle and approched the monster’s remains. He cut out his teeth as proof of defeating the Giant and returned to the city.

In the city everyone greeted him like a hero, seeing his armor covered in the monster’s blood and the teeth he wielded in his hand were the proof that he was victorious. Luda ran to him, crying from joy and telling him how grateful he was. He then gave him a sword - but not just any ordinary sword. It was the legendary Entanale Sword that Chaos heard of when he began his training as a Mercenary.
- “Now I know how he could fight....he was using this sword...it’s a real masterpiece!” – he thought to himself.
- “Only a warrior of true skill can wield it and fight with its full power. Please take it, as a token of our gratitude.” – said Luda.
- “Thank you for your legendary sword Luda. I will use it wisely!” – he said while still looking at the sword, amazed with its beauty and power.
- “I wish my world could see this...” – said the boy before he bit his tongue. He tought he said something wrong, but the people just smiled to him. The red haired girl he met before walked up to him and handed him two strange items.
- “Why haven’t you said you’re an Extra-Dimensioner? If you ever want to go home use this Blinkwing. It’ll take you back. The second one will bring you here whenever you want to return.” – She said politely with her usual smile.
- “What?! I could’ve returned to my world anytime I wanted?!” – Chaos was now shocked when hearing that, but he snaped out of it quickly, thinking how stupid he had to look. He took the Blinkwing and a portal appeared next to him. He wanted to ask just one question before leaving.
- “Do people often come here from my world?”
- “Well a few times per day. Most by accident at first, but later they spend their time here for fun.”
ChaosSX nodded to her answer and walked inside the portal that was going to take him home.
- “I will definitely come back here someday....Yes, I will!” – he thought to himself. This was only the beggining of a new life for him.
The end
(Author's adnotation: I didn't know if Lawolf in plural is Lawolfs or Lawolves, but I decided that it must be the monster's name so I picked Lawolfs. Please don't mind me if I choosed wrong. After the contest if I will get a ranked place I might continue the story cause I even liked how it went out. Thanks for your votes!) |
