newbie on trial looking for advice
Ask By Crowe
Hi all!
Well I had been curious about RF online for a while so I figured I would take advantage of the 7-day trial. Altho.. reading the boards it sounds like I might be trying the game a little too late, but oh well.
Anyway I made a warrior and am trying to understand some things.
1. Do my PT's like Close attack actually impact my performance or are they purely used as requirements?
2. Do I need to make myself use all PTs? Like, so far at level 8 I have no trouble making progress in Melee, Defense and even Shield is coming along now. But I've never used Ranged. Do I have to force myself to hunt one star mobs with a lowbie ranged weapon periodically?
Also I've never used a single Force, and wouldn't know how. And Summons fall under that category as well. I guess I'm concerned maybe there is some hybrid class I try to pick and then discover I'm screwed. This system of self-gimping is kind of odd/clumsy to me and has me nervous. o.O
3. I made a Cora warrior btw, and I read this race was gimp but oh well. So any specific things I should be keeping in mind given that choice?
Thanks a lot!

1. PTs are used as both a requirement and they also affect your performance. The better PTs you have the better weapons and armour you will be able to use for your level.
2. As you a Warrior, the PTs you really do need are Melee, Sheild and Defence mainly. Unit cap will keep increasing as you level so best to max out the PT before leveling and that will help your character alot ingame. Ranger PT is your choice. If a mix of guns and blades suite you all the better.
3. There are alot of Cora Warriors out there that can fiar better than most of the other races of the same level.
Hope that helps clear things up for you
EDIT :: As your char is a Cora, you have some differances in your PT List, Accretians have Launcher (Siege Kits), Bellato have UNIT (MAU & BMAU), Cora im not so sure about, ive never had a cora before, but there is a class specific to Summoning an Animus (Paimon, Hecate, Inanna, Isis are the available Animus summons for the Spirituallist promoted to Summoner class)

As a general rule it is a good idea to ensure that all of your PTs are atleast high enough to allow you to equip any item appropriate for your level at any time. So say you are level 28 and a level 28 bow requires 15 range PT you would want to make sure that your range is atleast that high. If range is not going to be your area of speciality then don't worry so much about maxing it, just keep it up for your equipment. See ranger armor is also dependant on your range PT and a lot of people like to keep a set of ranger armor and a wind weapon on their person at all times to allow them faster travel speeds. If your range was not high enough you would be forced to wear possibly significantly lower level ranger armor. A bad thing if you are doing it to try and make a quick get-away and are getting pounded on. As for force all of your skills are going to cost mana and since your mana pool is linked to your force PT you will be forced to carry around a truck load of smaller potions rather than a few stacks of higher potions to fill your pool as you spam attacks. All in all just keep them competitive and then max your primaries, for you melee, defence, and shield. As for summons, as I am fairly certain summoning is a class skill for summoners, even if you cross-class you will not be able to summon. Now cross-classed drivers can drive MAU so I may be wrong with that but usually you cannot access class specific skills when you cross-class. One of the Cora players should be able to fill in that blank for us.

Just a suggestion but try and max out all your pt until level 30. After that just work hard on the ones you need: Warriors> Champion majorly need melee, defense; minor shield, range Knight majorly need melee, shield, defense; minor force 40+> Templers majorly need melee, defense; minor force, shield Guardians majorly need melee, defense, force; minor shield, range Black Knights majorly need shield, melee, defense; minor force
Of course this is my opinnion but what you decide to become at level 40 really dictates what pts you need.
