Bellato noob (need help ASAP)
By k5r2an

I need help on my character. I am currently a lvl 7 Bellato warrior and I plan to cross-class to a driver. I have no idea what pt to raise and I don't know what skills to put up. I plan to be a sword & shield driver and other forums do not answer my questions. I have seen clips of BMAU's in youtube and google, but they don't seem very strong and do only 1 and 2 damage to Cora shield users, but I see BMAU's own other races easily, so are those drivers "gimped?" If I do cross-classing, will my damage be the same as a specialist at level 30? And will I be able to get a level 45 frame? What are the pros and cons to using a catapult rather than a goliath? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

1. To pt melee and sheild just attack mobs with a knife and sheild equiped and you will get melee and sheild pt.

2. You only need the driver class to be able to drive and upgrade an MAU so yes you can cross class and get the bmau at 40.

3. Will you be gimped? In one way yes because you wont have the reduced repair costs and increased damage/defence that come with the Armour Rider skills. However outside your MAU you would have a little more survivability than a normal driver due to an increase in hit points and do substantially more damage because of your t2/t3 melee skills.

Personally Id make a pure specialist > armour rider or if I had to be a crossclassed driver I would probably go with spiritualist > armour rider but each to their own, just have fun

Well, theres a couple of things to note:

You can raise any of your Melee / Range / Force / Shield / Defense PT as much as you personally feel is necessary. If you decide to not raise any of these, but start raising your level, then your character may reach a point at which it is very hard if not impossible to raise those PTs - meaning you have "gimped" that particular PT. The same also applies to the basic skills (wild rage, fast shot etc).

These things purely relate to your character when it is not in a MAU and do not affect how your character will perform in a MAU. However, people consider them to be important for drivers to a lesser or greater extent. I'm personally in favour of raising PTs because they dictate the type of armour you can wear, and the weapons you can use - which is important if you need to get out of a MAU and still have survivability - mainly if your switching MAUs and are being attacked.

The only PT that affects how you use your MAU is UNIT PT. This determines whether or not you can purchase the various MAU upgrades available at each level.

Now, most importantly is the fact that you are cross classing. What this means is that you will, from a pure MAU perspective, not be as effective when using a MAU as a Specialist driver (relatively "gimped" for want of a better word). The specialist receives an attack/defense bonus and a reduction in repair costs at level 40 (with the class change to armour rider) - you won't receive this if your base class is a warrior.

I think I should note that a specialist can still (eventually) use level 50 melee armour and a shield - if the only reason you've chosen to be a warrior is for this, you may wish to reconsider.

Hope that helps.
